Challenge

Generali France is a global leader in the insurance industry, supporting individuals and companies around the world. Within their group of traveling sales representatives, Generali France hires between 220 and 250 new employees every year – mostly individual contributors, plus 15-20 managers.

Given Generali France’s strong performance culture, they want to make sure they hire the best. This, combined with the continuously tight labour market, means that they needed to rethink their hiring process to help them recruit the right people.

Generali France implemented three focus areas:

  • Potential over current skill level: Generali France decided to refocus on what their applicants can grow to achieve in the future, rather than on their current skills. This allowed them to broaden their applicant pool and still hire high performing employees.
  • The right fit with the company is key: Generali France understands that a good organisational fit and potential career prospects, is important for long term retention. Understanding fit is seen as a critical part of the hiring process.
  • Soft skills are important: Generali France found that strong soft skills are unmissable for any successful sales representative in today’s market. They decided to put strong emphasis on understanding this during the hiring process.

They were looking for an assessment solution that addressed all three of these focus areas, while providing a friendly, personalised and quick candidate experience.

When Generali France was introduced to Talogy’s P.A.P.I. personality assessment solution, they knew they found what they needed. The P.A.P.I. 3+ personality questionnaire has been part of their recruitment process since January 2023, allowing them to:

  • Simplify their approach by comparing results to standardised job profiles and generating simple match scores.
  • Improve the candidate experience with a mobile friendly interface, short completion times, and custom information screens woven into the assessment process.
  • Personalise the recruitment process for each candidate through deep insight into their personality and competencies.
  • Understand the candidate’s fit with the company and role through insight into their motivators and drivers.

In addition, P.A.P.I. allows them deep insight in key competencies that determine potential for future growth, such as drive for results, resilience, energy, reliability, interpersonal skills, and stress management. Understanding both the respective strengths and the development areas of the candidates, enables Generali France recruiters to have a real, deep discussion with them.
