Strengthening internal talent mobility with Talogy’s leadership assessment solution
Client: Kingfisher

Kingfisher plc is a leading international home improvement group, operating more than 1,900 stores across eight European countries. With trusted brands including B&Q, Screwfix, Castorama, Brico Dépôt, TradePoint, and Koçtaş, the company supports over 76,000 employees and serves millions of consumers and trade professionals each year.
Headquartered in the UK, Kingfisher’s mission is to make home improvement accessible for everyone while building a sustainable, people-centred future.
The challenge
As part of a broader talent development strategy, Kingfisher’s sourcing function wanted to improve internal mobility and strengthen leadership pipelines. The goal was to establish a transparent and structured career pathway from Merchandiser to Product Sourcing Manager (PSM), to Regional Sourcing Manager (RSM), and beyond.
This initiative was as much about people as it was about process. The sourcing leadership team aimed to better understand their internal talent, assess leadership potential objectively, and provide meaningful development opportunities across global regions.
To succeed, the programme needed to:
- Assess potential using science-based, objective tools
- Create an engaging and inclusive participant experience
- Deliver trusted, actionable insights for leaders
Why Talogy
Kingfisher selected Talogy following a competitive tender process drawn to the team’s psychological expertise, collaborative style, and strong alignment with Kingfisher’s culture and goals.
What made Talogy stand out?
- A comprehensive development framework grounded in assessment science
- A balanced, time-efficient Development Centre design respecting operational demands
- A commitment to a positive experience for participants, facilitators, and observers
- Deep understanding of the sourcing function’s goals, with agile and practical delivery
We now have a clearer journey and growth path for our team. There’s excitement — even if it’s ‘positive stress’ because people feel invested.
The solution
Talogy worked in close partnership with Kingfisher to create a high-impact, scalable leadership assessment and development programme tailored to the sourcing function’s needs.
The two-day Development Centre provided an insight-driven, multidimensional view of participants’ capabilities — combining structured activities with psychometric data and personalised feedback.
Programme Components
- Three immersive activities: a business case analysis, group discussion, and role-play exercise — each simulating real-world leadership challenges.
- Psychometric assessments:
- Custom aspiration questionnaire: enabling participants to reflect on career motivations and future goals
The Development Centre was delivered across three regions — UK, Europe, and Asia ensuring global consistency and inclusivity.
Talogy provided full support throughout delivery, including facilitator training, tailored materials, in-depth psychometric analysis, and one-to-one developmental feedback sessions.
Outstanding feedback
Participants and observers rated the programme highly across multiple areas:
4.5+ out of 5
- Clarity of materials and instructions
- Organisation and flow of the two-day programme
- Relevance and realism of the business cases
- Value of developmental feedback
4.2+ out of 5
- Insight and self-awareness gained from PAPI and Logiks reflection sessions
The initial pilot generated strong executive buy-in and created momentum for wider rollout. What began as a targeted initiative is now in its fourth iteration — forming a core pillar of Kingfisher’s internal mobility and leadership development strategy.
The results
Through its partnership with Talogy, Kingfisher has:
- Elevated the visibility of the sourcing function across its global business
- Embedded structured career paths and intentional succession planning
- Built a trusted, repeatable model for identifying and developing future leaders
- Enhanced confidence in leadership capability across regions
What’s next
Building on the success of the first three Development Centers, Kingfisher continues to partner with Talogy to expand the program further. Two additional sessions are scheduled in Europe, with continued focus on inclusive growth, practical development, and data-driven talent decisions.
This collaboration reflects a shared belief: with the right insight and support, people decisions can be made with confidence and long-term success.
You can see the maturity of the Talogy team. I was very impressed by their professionalism, quick understanding of our business, and smooth communication. Talogy achieved a perfect match of understanding what we were aiming to do.
