Catalent Pharma Solutions recognised the need to build a strong and sustainable pipeline of emerging leaders equipped to take on greater responsibility within the organisation.
To support this, Catalent developed its NextGen Leaders programme, designed to identify and accelerate the development of high-potential leaders across the organisation.
The wider programme brings together leadership development, individual leadership assessments, structured mentoring, personalised development goals, and experiential learning.
An important part of the approach was ensuring the right people were selected to participate and giving those individuals meaningful insight into their leadership strengths and development opportunities.
The solution
Talogy has been involved in the NextGen Leaders programme from the outset, supporting Catalent through leadership assessment and helping validate that nominated participants were the right candidates for the programme.
Each participant receives a leadership assessment report highlighting their individual strengths and development opportunities.
Participants are supported in understanding their assessment results and translating those insights into actionable development goals, providing a personalised foundation for their development.
The assessment insights are then incorporated into the wider development experience. Each participant is paired with an experienced mentor within Catalent. Mentors receive the participant’s leadership assessment report and use the insights to help guide developmental conversations.
Together, mentors and participants identify development goals based on the assessment results, create personalised leadership development plans, and track progress throughout the programme.
This allows assessment to go beyond providing insight at a single point in time. Instead, it provides participants and mentors with a framework for ongoing development conversations and leadership growth.
The results
Through NextGen Leaders, Catalent has established a structured approach to identifying and developing high-potential leaders within their organisation.
Participants have progressed into leadership roles following their involvement in the programme, while the combination of assessment, mentoring, and personalised development supports participants as they prepare for greater leadership responsibility.
The programme has also developed an alumni community, with graduates continuing to contribute to leadership development by mentoring future participants, sharing their experiences, and supporting leadership initiatives across Catalent.
What’s next with Talogy?
From leadership development programme to award-winning initiative, Catalent has continued to evolve and grow NextGen Leaders, with the wider program receiving a Brandon Hall Award for Best in Leadership Programme.
The recognition marks an important milestone for the initiative Catalent has built, bringing together leadership development, assessment, mentoring, and personalised development to strengthen its future leadership pipeline.
Talogy’s assessment expertise has formed part of that wider journey, helping Catalent assess and validate high-potential participants and providing insights that can be translated into individualised development plans and mentoring conversations.
Talogy also supported Catalent during the Brandon Hall Award process, providing strategic guidance and helping to develop and review submission materials that captured the structure and impact of the wider NextGen Leaders initiative.
